What does entry cost?
Nothing. The grounds are freely accessible on all 29 event days, including the whole stage program and the children's world.
How does the deposit system work?
We take part in the shared city deposit system of Weihnachtsmarkt Magdeburg GmbH. So you can also return your mug at the other Magdeburg markets. We do not use single-use tableware made of conventional plastic.
Can I pay with the green tokens?
Yes. The official Magdeburg Christmas market tokens are accepted as full payment at all stalls.
How long is the market open?
Monday to Thursday 3:00–9:00 pm, Friday 3:00–10:00 pm, Saturday 11:00 am–10:00 pm and Sunday 11:00 am–9:00 pm. The market runs from November 27 to December 27, 2026, on 29 event days. It is closed on December 24 and 25. On December 20 the Möllenvogtei is open but without a program: a day of remembrance.
Is the market open between the holidays?
The Möllenvogtei is closed on December 24 and 25. On December 20 we remember the victims of the 2024 attack: we are open, but the mood is quieter. There is no program, we pause together. On all other days we are open until December 27 inclusive, also on December 26 and 27.
Is the site accessible?
The garden can be reached without steps via the main entrance, and the floors of the pagodas are liquid-tight and non-slip. Extra wooden walkways are laid for wheelchair users and strollers. The historic paving around the cathedral is uneven in places.
Is there somewhere warm to sit?
A heated seating area is reserved for booked Christmas parties. The children's workshop is heated for all visitors.
